It’s been nearly a week since news that Arizona’s online ballot access program collapsed, upending local elections and making it harder for Arizonans to run for office.
This issue has been known about since 2012, but Hobbs did nothing to prepare for it, instead allowing the system to collapse into chaos.
Secretary Hobbs has done nothing to fix the problem, instead telling candidates to hire their own lawyers:
“Murphy Hebert, a spokeswoman for Hobbs, noted that the Secretary of State’s Office is also advising candidates to seek legal advice from their own attorneys on such matters “
This is unacceptable. Hobbs must immediately rectify this issue and ensure Arizonans that candidates are not blocked from access to the ballot.
